India tasted its first defeat in this edition of the Asia Cup.

Matches involving India are having a topsy-turvy trend.
a. India’s first match against Bangladesh lasted for just 65 overs in which 14 wickets fell.
b. India’s second match against Pakistan lasted almost the entire 100 overs quota unlike the last match.
c. This match lasted just 80 overs with just 420 runs scored.

India lost its last 5 wickets for just 20 runs in 5.3 overs. Indian speedsters Zaheer Khan and Praveen Kumar were both among the wickets for the second consecutive match.

F. Mahroof claimed an Hat trick in this match and in the process became the fourth Sri Lankan bowler to claim hat-tricks in one day games. Others being Chaminda Vaas (twice) and Lasith Malinga.

F. Maharoof also became the fourth bowler to perform the hat trick against India in one day games. The other three bowlers are Aaqib Javed (Pakistan), Danny Morrison (New Zealand), and Steve Harmison (England).

Maharoof’s five wicket haul is his second in one day international cricket.

Upul Tharanga played his 100th one day match for Sri Lanka.
